yes it does exist..and I was on a journey to find out where it comes to life.
I met up with my buddy David...lead of the band Everybody's Enemy whom is apparently a huge deal in the Tokyo hardcore scene. I had the oppurtunity to go to my first show in Japan which featured them and a few other bands at this venue called Flat in Nishi-Okikubou.
everyone was cool..lots of cigg smoke in the air but it's expected because well..this is Japan.
there were a few straight-edge people there..mostly non-japanese but it's good to know that they have a presence in Japan.
David told me how alot of shows in Japan aren't as heavy hitting as shows in the states..because I guess it's that Japanese sense of pride and not wanting to be the " nail that sticks out" but after a few drinks..that didn't seem to be the case with alot of people..which was super fun.
people came from miles away to see this guy pour Dr.Pepper down his face and bite the can apart.....that's intense. The venue was very small which is good in my opinion as it added to the intimacy of the band and the intensity of the show.
Everybodys' Enemy toured Indonesia recently...which introduced me to a few of their bands and this term..Inclusive Hardcore...hmmmm I plan to learn more about this...but it was pretty much the joining of indonesia and japans' hardcore scenes...( Jakarta x Tokyo from what I remember).
This show was alot of fun, I'm super happy my Sunday night ended with a bang..more updates soon as these aren't in order....but this was the most exciting to say the least.
more adventure reports to come as my life in Japan is moving moving moving....LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
